Delonix

Under normal circumstances I would not make this long of a note about any of the assets under my team's observation adopting young, however, this is a very special case. It involves the pup that was brought over from the other island, the one that had an incident on the ship and ended up blind in one eye. Of all the yutys on the island he was found by Delonix, or rather he found her, her coloring practically makes her a beacon anywhere but the savanna.

Although she cannot hear him, she did well keeping track of the little one and he grew up surprisingly well all things considered, and he's been named Yarrow. With the two of them not being able to understand the social cues of other yutys the problem with them finding a group still stands, but at least they can watch each other's backs for now.

Delonix's tendency to lock onto a target paired with her bright coloring makes her the perfect distraction, keeping the prey focused on her when Yarrow attacks. Although he cannot see the prey very well he can see and hear Delonix when she takes off after her target and joins the fight once she has it slowed down enough. I've only seen this tactic of theirs on practice targets like the Platyhystrix, but I don't doubt that it will be equally effective in a real hunt.

Since Delonix is the main focus of my team's research we will have plenty of opportunities to see this in action and continue observing Yarrow's growth. He has yet to shed his final colors and since we were denied access to his parent's files I have no idea what he will turn out to be. I can practically hear the drone squad making bets already.
